Amarillo to Oklahoma City
6/5/06
We left Amarillo and headed east on I-40. The weather was clear as it has been for our trip thus far. Once we crossed into Oklahoma the landscape changed dramatically. It is rolling green hills and trees. However, the winds were cross winds at 20 mph. This seems to be the norm for this area. All the trees seem to be permanently bent from a prevailing southwest wind.
The roads have been less than satisfactory for interstates. Texas and Oklahoma should be ashamed of the condition of their interstates. I-40 through Oklahoma City is the worst I have ever driven on. It was shake, rattle and roll.
No visit to Oklahoma City could be complete without a visit to the Murrah Building Memorial.
The smaller chairs represent children killed in the 1995 blast.
Tomorrow on to Little Rock, then the next day the home of the King of Rock and Roll.
