Petrified Forest and the Painted Desert, June 1,2006
Today we experienced the Petrified Forest and the painted Desert. Again, getting a glimpse into the past, some 200 plus million years ago. You are forbidden to take any pieces of the Petrified Forest, however there are rock shops all over the area that sell pieces of petrified trees. The photo below is a photo of a petrified tree as it rests in the Petrified Forest.
The Painted Desert has some muted colors and looks just like someone painted the landscape.
Tomorrow onto Santa Fe and hopefully a visit with James Porter's parents, Earl and Nancy Porter. The weather has been in the 90's but cools off at night tothe mid 50's with humidity at 4%.
The RV has been a great way to travel. No mechanical problems. Kathy has also been no problem.
